A 28-year-old from West Nipissing has been charged in a sexual assault case involving an adolescent beneath the age of 16, police say.
Officers from the Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a sexual assault report on Pioneer Highway in Markstay-Warren at 1:20 p.m. on Mar. 4.
Due to the investigation, a male suspect was arrested and charged with sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching involving a person beneath 16 years of age and sexual interference.
OPP Const. Rob Lewis suggested CTV Info in an e mail there are not any public safety points in relation to this incident.
“With out providing reasonably extra to protect the safety of the sufferer, the accused was acknowledged to the sufferer and family,” Lewis said.
The accused was launched on bail and is scheduled to appear in courtroom in Sudbury in April.
“The OPP will not be going to be releasing the names of the accused as a solution to defend the identification of the sufferer,” police said in a data launch.
